Community Academic Partnership Grant |
| Abstract: |
Building capacity among community organizations, clinicians and investigators to ensure they are full and equal partners in the research enterprise is an essential step in meaningful community-academic collaboration. A growing body of literature reveals the significant value and gains obtained from this collaborative work (e.g. Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR), Practice-Based Research Networks).
The Triad Community-Academic Partnership Development program will support research teams that will:
* Develop, evaluate, or disseminate innovative approaches to translate effective therapies, diagnostic strategies or preventive measures that lead to improved access to care and health services delivery;
* Create multidisciplinary, cross-organization collaborations that result in sustainable partnerships and lead to improvements in integrated, coordinated services and access to care; and
* Develop collaborative projects with a clearly identified priority population in areas

| Eligibility: |
All faculty with a primary appointment at UNC-CH and faculty of external NC TraCS-affiliated institutions collaborating with UNC faculty are eligible to apply as project leaders in cooperation with a community partner. CBHOs and Health Networks with 501c3 status are also eligible to apply as project leaders. Applicants must propose projects in one or more of the following Triad counties: Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Guilford, Orange, Montgomery, Randolph, and Rockingham Counties.
Grants will not be given to individuals. Applicant teams that include junior faculty or trainees (i.e., at the rank of Assistant Professor or below) with opportunities to be mentored by more senior faculty are highly encouraged in order to further advance engaged scholarship among young researchers. Junior faculty or trainees can apply for salary support within the budget proposal.
Full time AHEC faculty are eligible to be PI's; collaboration with the Chapel Hill campus is strongly encouraged in that circumstance.
