Curriculum Development Award |
| Abstract: |
Program Purpose
These awards support faculty who are interested in
adding international content to existing courses that have little or no such content;
adding comparative cases to courses that are currently area specific; or
developing new courses with significant international content.
The Center for Global Initiatives is currently focusing particular attention on four themes and encourages proposals that address one or more of these themes:
1) Peace and Conflict Resolution,
2) Global Health,
3) Migration, Citizenship and Identity, and
4) the Globalization of the American South.
The Center is especially interested in faculty developing globally-oriented service learning courses based at UNC. To learn more about the nature of service learning courses, please check the APPLES website. |

| Eligibility: |
Faculty of any rank are eligible to apply. Proposed courses may be at the graduate or undergraduate level and in any department, curriculum, or school.
Awards can be requested as either stipends or travel reimbursements or a combination of the two. Stipends are subject to taxes.
Travel is contingent upon the approval of the U.S. Department of Education and must conform to the Fly America Act, which requires traveling as far as possible on a U.S. carrier.
Funds may not be used to support research or teaching assistants.

The Center for Global Initiatives is not bound by these estimates and is often unable to award the full amount of funds requested. |
